Nelson Bird reports on Mike Laliberete, a well-known Indigenous knowledge keeper who sadly passed away in August of 2024.

Mike Laliberete could be called a ‘fixture’ on the powwow trail. Everyone knew him and sadly, he passed away earlier this week (Aug 21, 2024).

He leaves a great void… and stories about him are being shared by many.

Mike lived on Fishing Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan but as Nelson Bird reports, his home was wherever he was able to share indigenous culture.

Every summer across the country, week long camps take place. Young people do everything from horse riding to swimming and some even learn a new language.

In Regina this past week, there’s a camp for young people that is guaranteed to give young people the tools they need to start their own business.
