About this Host
William started his career in Sept 1989 by attending Prairie Broadcast Training Institute and completed the internship at CGCY Medicine Hat. His first paid gig was with 13 CJME (back when they were still playing music) doing the overnight shift mid to 6am. He quickly found his way to the music department and immersed himself in the maintenence, development and programming of broadcast media. From the Midnight shift, he moved to senior wknd swing. From there it was off to 620 CKCK as midday host and music director. It was in the early 2000’s when he and Chief DayWalker applied and were awarded CHXL 95.3FM community radio license. In the spring of 2001, Okanese First Nation launched the most powerful community radio station in Canada at 50 000 watts…Your All Nation Superstation 95.3 CREEK FM! The CREEK as it was lovingly referred to would be on the air for the next 20 yrs William would go on to FOX FM in Yorkton as Morning Host; Program Director and after 5 years of making FOX FM #1 in the ratings. Again, he’d make his way back to CREEK FM and develop an on-air Bingo show. 2 years ago, Shannon Avison reached out to Wiliam with the idea of rebranding Canadian First Nations University radio into a REAL radio station. CFNU the stream now provides a broadcast day from 9a to 6p and also streams content 24-7 with unique programming by the students of FNUC, with fresh episodes daily!
