Governor General visits CFNU

Canada’s first Indigenous Governor General took a seat behind CFNU’s mic during a visit to First Nations University of Canada on April 22.

Her Excellency Mary Simon answered questions from the stations staff and volunteers about how she retains her language, Inuktitut.

The Governor General was in Saskatchewan for an official visit that included meetings with provincial and community leaders. She was greeted by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty, Saskatchewan’s first Indigenous Lieutenant Governor, making the visit a unique first in Canada’s history.
